A memorial will be held for artist Bill Anthony at Westbeth Artists Housing on Sun., Sept. 10, at 2 p.m., in the Westbeth Community Room, at 155 Bank St., between Washington and West Streets.
Anthony, 88, died last December from injuries suffered in a fire in his apartment. Two Westbeth employees dragged him out of the smoke-filled unit, and he survived on a ventilator for a week before succumbing.
The rescuing staffers were treated for smoke inhalation.
His wife, Norma, was not injured in the blaze.
Their home — which was full of Bill’s artwork — was totally destroyed by the fire. Anthony reportedly ran into the smoky unit — some speculated to try to save his paintings, but at the time no one knew for sure.
