Go fish: Father’s Day public art in Tompkins Square

If it’s a holiday, you better know by now that Tom Manco is doing another one of this Tompkins Square Park Temperance Fountain cardboard creations.

With Father’s Day on Sunday, Manco’s latest public art piece has a couple of things going on.

First, there’s a Daddy Long Legs, who is shown swatting a punk. Clearly, this is going to have some different interpretations.

The other part of the tableau, which is interactive, features Dad’s all-American favorite pastime, yes, of course, fishing.

Short tubes are used to represent the little swimmers. We can imagine angling in the East or Hudson rivers or maybe someplace not too far away from the city on a weekend getaway.
