The Washington Square Park holiday tree lighting, originally set for Wed., Dec. 4, is now on for tonight, Mon., Dec. 9, at 6 p.m.
Trevor Sumner, of the Washington Square Association, will give a brief speech, and a local politician may arrive to add a few words, too.
The Rob Sussman Brass Band will play Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza music.
If Santa shows up, then candy canes will be given out.
Because rain is forecast, the event might not last that long — a half hour if rainy, but an hour if clear.
