BY THE VILLAGE SUN | May is the month of one of the two annual occurences of Manhattanhenge — when the sun’s setting and rising perfectly align with the borough’s crosstown streets. The date of what some have dubbed the spring “Manhattan Solstice,” is Sat., May 28.
In fact, the spring solstice already occurred on March 20, the first day of spring.
In the meantime, there have been some striking, Manhattanhengey sunsets lately amid the beautiful weather. And East Village writer Lesley Sussman has been out capturing them.
In a couple of weeks people will be swarming the sidestreets and crosstown boulevards — each and every single one of them striving to capture the perfect Manhattanhenge photo, and then post it to social media.
