Man arrested for deadly stabbing in Greenwich Village

Police today announced an arrest in the fatal stabbing of a man in Greenwich Village five months ago.

Cops said Damon Clemmons, 25, of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with murder and manslaughter in the stabbing of Samer Abdalla, 28, of Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, earlier this year on Fri., May 13, around 1:30 a.m., at the busy intersection of W. Fourth Street and Sixth Avenue.

Responding officers found Abdalla with stab wounds to the torso. E.M.S. medics transported him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the initial police investigation, the victim was involved in a dispute with a group of males, who fled on foot after the stabbing.

News reports said the dispute was over a cigarette lighter.
