A woman was smashed over the head with a glass bottle in an East Village building last month, police said.
On Sat., May 15, around 1 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was in the lobby area of 50 E. Third St., when a stranger grabbed her buttocks.
The woman pushed the groper away. But, according to police, he spun around and brained her with a bottle, causing a cut on the back of her head.
The attacker fled westbound on E. Third St., along with a second male and a female.
The victim was removed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
A police spokesperson could not immediately say whether the victim lives in the neighborhood or not. Another spokesperson said the attacker and victim did not know each other since the identity of the former is listed as “unknown.”
The attacker is described as roughly in his 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, with black dreadlocks. Police said he was last seen wearing a white T-shirt over a multicolored hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, red sneakers and a dark-colored hat. However, another surveillance photo, allegedly of the same guy, shows him just wearing a white T-shirt, while a surveillance video, in turn, shows him wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
His male sidekick, also roughly in his 20s, was last seen wearing light-gray sweatpants, a yellow hooded sweatshirt, white sneakers, a yellow hat and a red backpack.
The third trio member, a woman also apparently in her 20s, was last seen in a short white T-shirt, black sweatpants and red sneakers, with a black backpack.
