Restaurant safe was on burglar’s menu

A burglar bypassed the dim sum and went straight for a safe full of cash at an East Village restaurant last month, police said.

According to a report, Carma East restaurant, at 507 E. Sixth St., was open on Wed., Nov. 25, around 7:30 p.m., when a man entered the basement below it.

Once inside, the man grabbed a safe containing roughly $2,000, then fled with it in an unknown direction.

Police released surveillance video and photos of the individual taken during the incident. He was wearing a black-and-purple Orlando Magic baseball cap and a white face mask.
