A man was shot Tuesday afternoon on the Lower East Side just down the block from Katz’s Delicatessen and police are searching for a black S.U.V. in connection with the incident, police said.

According to the New York Post, the shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. A gunman pulled up next to a 23-year-old man sitting in his car at 178 Ludlow St., between E. Houston and Stanton Sts., and shot him in the right thigh, cops said.

Photos from the scene show the victim alert and on a stretcher. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was expected to survive.

The Post said police are searching for two men in a black SUV, believed to be a Lincoln Navigator, with New Jersey plates.
