BY JEFFERSON SIEGEL | Wednesday morning, with the Union Square Greenmarket in full swing, a person dressed as a sperm danced on the other side of Union Square West.
The dancer was calling attention to the upcoming ninth annual World Vasectomy Day. Parked around the corner was a van hosting several “examination tables” and a line of virtual-reality goggles.
Sponsors of World Vasectomy Day, also known as Virtual Vasectomy Day, according to a press release, say its intent is to educate and encourage male participation in family planning and reproductive health.
Passersby donning the goggles see virtual-reality conversations with men undergoing vasectomies.
The van, which has traveled across the country, will stop in Times Square on Thursday and Friday. World Vasectomy Day is Friday.
