BY THE VILLAGE SUN | Police announced the arrest of a local teenager in the murder of Tyrell Williams in the East Village earlier this month.
Williams, 26, of 279 E. Fourth St., was fatally shot on Sun., Oct. 11, around 1:20 a.m. Responding police found him collapsed at E. 13th St. near Avenue A with a single gunshot wound to the chest. E.M.S. transported the victim to Mt. Sinai Beth Israel Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On Sat., Oct. 24, cops said they had collared Qadar Marshall, 15, who lives nearby on the East Side. He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a firearm.
Leading up to the arrest, police had released photo and video surveillance of the alleged suspects.
According to the Daily News, police sources said the murder may have been gang-related and that Williams belonged to a local subset called the YG Bloods.
The profile photo on Marshall’s Facebook page shows his hand flashing an apparent gang sign, while his Facebook cover photo shows his hand with a fanned-out stack of cash with a $100 bill on top.
