A fire in a Lower East Side laundry shop brought 12 fire vehicles and 60 firefighters — including Engine 15 from “Fort Pitt” — rushing to the scene on March 28 around noon.
A call was placed from a firebox by someone who reported smoke coming from 108 Stanton St., between Ludlow and Essex Streets.

The fire was determined to be in the ground-floor laundry in the six-story residential building and was brought under control at 1:14 p.m. There were no reported injuries in connection with the incident.
