The Elizabeth Street Garden held a candlelight vigil for Ukraine on the evening of Fri., March 18.
Prayers were led by Deacon Adrian Mazur from the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, at Broome between Mott and Elizabeth Streets, and Councilmember Christopher Marte attended.
Afterward, people planted sunflowers — the national flower of Ukraine — in the garden.
What a wonderful way to show our support to the Ukrainian people by holding a prayer vigil at The Gazebo and then planting seeds for Ukraine’s national flower, the Sunflower! Stand Strong Ukraine as there are many who support you through numerous acts including charitable aid. The only place that is perfect to hold an event like this is the Elizabeth Street Garden!
