Lenox Health Greenwich Village has opened a brand new, state-of-the-art endoscopy suite as part of Northwell Health’s effort to bring more clinical patient services to the West Village.
The 3,000-square-foot space, which cost $1.49 million to build, includes two procedure rooms equipped with the latest technology to perform various endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures, as well as with patient friendly pre-op and recovery areas.
This newest addition to L.H.G.V., at 30 Seventh Ave., between W. 11th and W. 12th Streets, offers care to patients who are experiencing a host of gastrointestinal issues. Endoscopy services are typically utilized to find causes for symptoms like acid reflux, difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain or bloating, bleeding and inflammation. In addition, endoscopy can aid in the life-saving early detection of esophageal and gastric cancers.
Colonoscopies are critical for evaluating the large intestine for common conditions, including unusual growths, inflamed tissue, ulcers, hemorrhoids and abnormal bowel movements. Colonoscopies are recommended for anyone above the age of 45 and earlier for those with a family history of colon cancer — the third most common cancer in the United States.
“We are delighted to expand Northwell Health’s world-class gastroenterological expertise to a convenient location at the heart of the West Village,” said Dr. Arun Swaminath, chief of gastroenterology and director of the inflammatory bowel disease program at Lenox Hill Hospital. “With a prominent and diverse team of specialists, we will be able to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to people within this community and across New York City.”
Since L.H.G.V. is part of Northwell Health, New York’s largest healthcare provider, after confirming a diagnosis, doctors are able to provide patients with access to a large multidisciplinary network of outpatient, inpatient and surgical programs at locations throughout Manhattan and beyond.
