People visited Governors Island in droves Sunday as it reopened for the season. The most notable new additions were the flock of five sheep as nature’s lawn mowers.

In addition to sheep, goats have also been used in city parks to “goatscape” pesky weeds. An Upstate “chew crew” was brought into Stuyvesant Cove Park last season to obliterate a serious bindwind infestation in just a matter of days.
