BY THE VILLAGE SUN | Police on Friday night announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder of a Grubhub bicycle deliveryman on the Lower East Side a week ago.
A police spokesperson said detectives investigating the case collared Joseph Sandoval, 23, of Jamaica, Queens, on Thursday, charging him with one count of murder.
The victim, Sala Miah, was a 51-year-old immigrant from Bangladesh who lived in Midwood, Brooklyn, and was supporting his wife and two children overseas.
Miah had reportedly just finished working on Sat., Oct. 16 around 1 a.m., and was unwinding on a bench at Hester Street in Sara D. Roosevelt Park, when he was robbed of his bike and stabbed to death. According to news reports, he may have put up a struggle against the mugger.
