Clayton Patterson, the Lower East Side documentarian, photographed the drag scene at the Pyramid club during its heyday. The Avenue A club, which opened in 1979, closed in April, another business casualty of the pandemic.
The slideshow was produced by Elsa Rensaa, Patterson’s wife. The music is a mash-up of “Heroes” and “Walk on the Wild Side” by Burning Buddha.
After the Pyramid’s closure, Patterson reflected on the legendary club in a first-person piece in The Village Sun.
