BY THE VILLAGE SUN | A collar has been made in the June 21 killing of a man in Washington Square Park’s drugged-out northwest corner.
Police said that on Tuesday around 6 a.m., Khajah Gaye, 30, was arrested at Greenwich Village’s 6th Precinct. He was charged with murder in the stabbing death of Edward Bullock, 35.
Gaye’s address was given as the Ward’s Island men’s homeless shelter.
Bullock’s address was listed as 114 W. 14th St., the location of Paul’s Place, a combination drop-in homeless shelter / Save Haven transitional housing facility that opened last summer. It wasn’t immediately clear if Bullock was staying at the drop-in shelter, where people can sleep overnight in recliner chairs, or had a room in the Safe Haven upstairs from it.
A police spokesperson did not have more information on what may have sparked the homicide or if the two men knew each other or had a prior history. She said the investigation is ongoing.
Police initially said that two men seen fleeing from the park after the deadly attack were suspects.
