BY THE VILLAGE SUN | Now this is a trip!
Constituents first became aware of Erik Bottcher’s guitar playing during the pandemic lockdown, when he would serenade his friends on Facebook Live.
Now, though, the new councilmember has taken his show on the road — make that literally onto the road.
Saturday — looking a little like Johnny Cash, in a black T-shirt, with a black guitar strapped on — the freshman lawmaker helped kick off The Village Trip at a day of live music on the street at Eighth and MacDougal Streets.
Accompanied on keyboard by the legendary David Amram, the festival’s artist emeritus, Bottcher belted out “Blowin’ in the Wind,” Bob Dylan’s 1962 famed folk song that was an anthem of the civil rights movement.
What we want to know is when is Bottcher going to drop his first single?
The Village Trip runs through Sept. 25. For information on events, visit thevillagetrip.com.
