It’s time to “take the handcuffs” off police and “restore order” to Washington Square Park, a candidate for Manhattan district attorney says.
According to a press release, Liz Crotty says “repeat offenders” are causing “nightly chaos and disruption” in Washington Square Park. The park situation highlights the need to reform the bail-reform laws to make more offenses bail eligible, the candidate says.
Crotty plans to hold a press conference on Thursday at 11 a.m., under the Washington Square Arch, where she’ll be joined by community residents, plus unions representing police, firefighters and E.M.S. workers that have endorsed her campaign.
