A 25-year-old woman was mugged in the East Village early on Sun., March 1, when a man came up from behind her, grabbed her purse and pushed her down onto the pavement.
The victim was walking eastbound along E. 12th St. toward Second Ave. around 2 a.m. when she was accosted. She was not injured.
The purse contained a cell phone and credit cards.
The suspect fled on foot. He was described as around age 30, 5-feet-9-inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, and last seen wearing a blue-and-black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, white-and-red sneakers and carrying a black book bag.
Police released a surveillance-camera photo of the individual obtained from the location before the incident.
