Woman smashed with bat in Two Bridges

A 58-year-old woman was walking in front of 37 Monroe St. in the Two Bridges neighborhood shortly after 2 p.m. on Tues., June 25, when two unidentified young males approached and struck her numerous times with a bat.

The attackers fled on food, heading eastbound on Madison Street.

The victim suffered injuries to her leg and swelling to her head. She was transported by E.M.S. to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital in stable condition.

A police spokesperson could not immediately state a motive for the assault. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

    It do seems like a retaliation. The woman was not robbed. She was beaten. I truly believe someone paid those thugs to attack her.🤔

    Wonder if it is gang related.Maybe retaliation. Looked like the one guy was trying to break her legs with the bat.
