On Valentine’s Day at a Lower East Side gallery, you can get some free chocolate and enter a contest to win a free trip to…Utah!
In a one-day-only event, the Utah Office of Tourism is pitching its “In Love, In Utah” campaign at Van Der Plas Gallery, at 156 Orchard St., from noon to 8 p.m.
If you go there today, they’ll tell you about the contest (four free Utah trips are being given away) and give you some chocolate to boot. Basically, you have to tell a “Utah story” — about something you did there, or, if you haven’t visited yet, about your dream of going there.
Winners will get a roundtrip flight to Utah, including full hotel accommodations for three days, plus a meal/travel stipend.
The gallery also has a room set up to simulate Utah’s dark sky. Utah state parks have some of the darkest, most pristine night skies in North America — meaning they are free of electric “light pollution.”
