iPhone mugger uses jacket-over-the-head move

Police said that on Fri., Dec. 4, at 11:20 p.m., a mugger robbed a man in the Village by pulling the victim’s jacket up over his head, then punching him multiple times in the face.

The incident reportedly occurred at the intersection of Waverly Place and Gay St. After socking the 23-year-old victim, the thief demanded his property.

Removing the victim’s wallet and iPhone, the crook fled on foot to the W. Fourth St. subway station.

The victim suffered pain and redness to his face.

Police released a photo of the alleged suspect taken at the W. Fourth St. station after the incident.
