Trying to build support for restoring, reusing Stanton Street park building

Park activists will be calling attention to the Stanton park house in Sara D. Roosevelt Park, at Stanton and Chrystie Streets, on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. at It’s My Park Day. They’ll be advocating for the Lower East Side building’s return to community use, which they’ve championed for more than a decade: Check out the slideshow.

There will also be a labyrinth, created by Diana Carulli, on the ground for meditative walking. Carulli has created several local labyrinths, including a favorite in East River Park’s southern section that was demolished along with the rest of that part of the park.

The park activists also will be pitching their participatory budgeting (PB) entry  They hope to win City Council funding to light the Stanton Street park building’s exterior, so that it will glow from within to give the area more safety and security at night.
