On The Fringe Pop Art Space will hold a silent auction of artwork by Lu Mei on Sat., Feb. 8, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at 72 Warren St. (Disregard incorrect time in flier posted above.) The event is co-sponsored by Wall Street Chinese.
Lu Mei is a leading emerging artist whose paintings have been exhibited in China, the U.S. and internationally.
Born in Henan, China, Lu Mei graduated from the Fine Arts Academy at the Central Academy of Arts and Design in 1996. She has continued her graduate studies at CAFA Jiang Caiping, International Shuxiang Society and the Art Students League of New York.
She currently lives in New York City and divides her time between her studios in New York and Beijing. Lu Mei also serves as a guest professor at the prestigious Zhoukou Normal University of Academy of Fine Arts in China.
Lu Mei’s paintings come from her intensive study of Chinese culture and her personal life experience. In her “Pyramid” series, she repeats and overlays squares to form the “pyramid” structure of our subconsciousness. Her work “Reaching to the Sky” illustrates the pathway that connects humans with the universe.
Lu Mei’s paintings are in the collection of museums and private collectors in China, the U.S. and Europe.
