From The Island to Manhattan Island and beyond, Puerto Ricans will show their outrage at what organizers are calling the “mismanagement of the coronavirus pandemic” with a raucous protest on Thursday from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
In a show of solidarity, the Borinquenos will be banging on pots and pans.
It’s a form of demonstration known as a cacerolazo (casserole in English) meant to call attention to issues by making noise. “Cacerola” also means “stew pot” in Spanish.
The event will be held on Facebook Live, Instagram video and Zoom Meeting. Participants can also upload photos.
See the flier above for information on how to join the protest.
