Man’s body pulled from river on Lower East Side

On Mon., July 3, around 4 p.m., police received 9-1-1 calls of an unconscious and unresponsive male in the East River near Pier 35, the park pier at South and Jefferson Streets, a block north of the Manhattan Bridge.

Numerous Police and Fire units responded to the location. The Police Department’s Harbor Unit removed the man from the water and E.M.S. transported him to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing.
