A new group, Friends of Tompkins Square Park, has formed with the goal of helping to maintain and advocate for the East Village park.
Friends of Tompkins Square Park is founded by residents living near the park and is mentored by the Partnerships for Parks.
The Friends will be kicking things off with two events that are open to all to join.
On Sat., Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Friends will be in the park cleaning up litter and raking leaves. Meet at the field house.
On Sat., Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Friends will be planting tulip bulbs as part of the official “It’s My Park” Day in Tompkins Square Park. Meet at the central plaza.
