Fans are there for Matthew Perry as memorial grows outside ‘Friends Building’

Following the death of Matthew Perry on Oct. 28, international tourists and local fans alike have been creating spontaneous pop-up tributes to him.

In Greenwich Village, flowers, candles, photos and messages cover the corner at Bedford and Grove Streets outside 90 Grove St., home to the fictional apartment of the cast of “Friends.”

Perry, 54, played Chandler Bing on the wacky sitcom, which ran from 1994 to 2004. “Friends” is considered one of the most popular television series of all time.

Despite the upbeat and cheery TV series, in his personal life, the actor battled substance abuse.

Perry was found lifeless in his hot tub in Los Angeles. An investigation into his cause of death is still ongoing.
