Celebrating a new year — and for migrants, a new start in a new country

Amid the thousands of revelers who packed the Crossroads of the World to usher in 2024 were migrants celebrating in front of their nearby shelter hotel, a 10-year-old asylum seeker crooning tunes for bucks and a young mother suckling her baby while vending.

These photos were all taken just after the ball drop at Times Square at midnight.
