Burglar saw window of opportunity on W. 12th St.

Police said a sneaky thief slipped into a Village apartment while its occupant was sleeping, then quietly crept off with some easy pickings.

According to a report, a 30-year-old resident woke up around 9 a.m. on Thurs., Nov. 12, at his place at Eighth Ave. and W. 12th St., and was surprised to discover property missing. He called the police.

A subsequent investigation determined that earlier that day, around 4 a.m., a stranger had entered the ground-floor apartment through an unsecured window, removed the victim’s property and then exited through the front door, all while the man slumbered.

The stolen loot, including electronics and a bag, totaled an estimated value of $300.

The suspect is described as male and between 20 to 30 years old.

Police released video of the suspect taken from the incident location after the incident.
