Community Board 2 has nailed down a venue for a “joint forum” by the Downtown Manhattan community boards on the state of the business of legal pot in New York State.
The Thurs., April 28, event, with the working title “Downtown Cannabis: A Community Discussion About the Emerging Recreational Cannabis Business Landscape,” will be held at 7 p.m. at the Sheen Center’s Loreto Theater, at 18 Bleecker St.
Among the panelists will be attorney Cristina Buccola, who is a well-known cannabis advocate, plus representatives from city and state agencies.
The forum will be hosted by the C.B. 2 Equity, Race and Justice Committee, chaired by Mar Fitzgerald. The other three participating Downtown boards are C.B.’s 1, 3 and 4. Together, the four boards cover Manhattan from the Battery to E. 14th Street on the East Side and W. 59th Street on the West Side.
It’s not clear yet if there will be a Zoom option to watch the event virtually in real time. However, Fitzgerald said that, either way, the meeting will be recorded and posted for viewing on the C.B. 2 YouTube channel.
landlords are no doubt salivating thinking about pushing out small neighborhood stores to get “pot shops.”
NYC will basically be Starbucks, Joe’s Juice, Target, nail salons and pot shops.
