Do you have reflexes like a cobra, quickness like a cat, a forehand smash like Coco Gauff and more spin than the mainstream media?
If so — or, well, even if not — you can try your hand, with paddle attached, at “a friendly neighborhood ping-pong tournament” at the Lower East Side’s Gulick Park, on Sat., Oct. 28, just south of the Williamsburg Bridge, between Columbia and Willett Streets. The fast-paced action, sponsored by Ping Pod, starts at 1 p.m.
As of Friday afternoon, 50 contestants had signed up. Late sign-ups are available the morning of the tourney.
There are three prizes from Ping Pod, plus a coveted Friends of Gulick Park custom paddle made for the No. 1 winner. The Ping Pod first prize is a ping pong session in a private room for eight people.
For more information and to sign up, visit www.gulickpark.org.
The event will coincide with It’s My Park Day at Gulick Park, where there will be free pumpkin painting, face painting, a capoeira expo, bulb planting and all-around family fun.
Interesting, was a ping pong demon back in the day. Might show up for a custom paddle. That sounds sick
