BY THE VILLAGE SUN | An older man in the jewelry business was cleaned out by robbers who invaded his West Village apartment and made off with a huge haul of valuables and cash.
According to police, on Sat., May 6, around 11:15 p.m., two men forced their way into a 72-year-old man’s home at Morton and Bleecker Streets. Once inside, they stole around $90,000 and $1.3 million worth of watches and jewelry.
The robbers fled in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, heading eastbound on Bleecker Street. The victim was uninjured.
A police spokesperson said the victim is in the jewelry trade in some capacity, but didn’t have information on whether he is a seller, buyer or proprietor.
