BY THE VILLAGE SUN | Police have made an arrest in a July 10 sucker-punch attack that left an 89-year Greenwich Village performer laid out on the sidewalk with a black eye.
Cops said Brittney Bullock, 30, who lives in affordable housing in Brooklyn near the Barclays Center, was arrested at her home on the afternoon of Thurs., Aug. 8. She was charged with assault and criminal possession of stolen property.
Detectives ID’d the suspect from surveillance-camera video. The Daily News said the New York Police Department’s warrants squad made the collar after multiple attempts, including one where Bullock reportedly barricaded herself inside her apartment as officers knocked on her door.
According to police and news reports, the victim, D’Yan Forest, a comic actress and performer, was heading to the Equinox gym on Greenwich Avenue for a morning swim shortly before 9 a.m. on July 10. She was waiting at the corner for the walk signal at Seventh Avenue and W. 11th Street, when Bullock — wearing a matching “Jurassic Park” tank top and shorts outfit — allegedly came up and, unprovoked, slammed her in the right eye, knocking her to the ground.
The attacker fled westbound on Bank Street. Good samaritans helped Forest sit up and called for help. She was taken to Lenox Hill Greenwich Village, just a block away, in stable condition.
Apparently Forest is back in fine form. Richard Johnson, in his Daily News gossip column, reported she was among the bold-face names at the Cathedral Church of St. John of the Divine last week to watch Philippe Petit celebrate the 50th anniversary of his death-defying World Trade Center tightrope walk by recreating it with a high-wire act above the church’s nave.
Great news. 10 years minimum
