Armed robbers hit East Broadway grocery, then scoot

Two armed robbers hit a Lower East Side grocery store last Friday, then made a speedy getaway on a motor scooter, police said.

On Aug. 7, around 6:47 p.m., the pair of perps entered He Xie Grocery Store, at 154 East Broadway, according to cops. Two people were inside the place at the time, a 59-year-old male and a 43-year-old female.

Brandishing a handgun, one of the robbers ordered both victims to sit up against the wall, and removed a cell phone and $1,450 from inside of the male’s pocket.

The second crook removed $300 from behind the counter. The thieves ran out of the store and were last seen on a motorized scooter traveling eastbound on East Broadway. There were no reported injuries.
