Weekend guide to local live music

BY EVERYNIGHT CHARLEY CRESPO | Multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird has performed swing, indie rock and folk music since 1996. In the 1990s, he sang and played violin in several jazz ensembles, including Squirrel Nut Zippers and Kevin O’Donnell’s Quality Six, before forming his own swing ensemble, Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire. He has since moved from jazz to indie music. His music often features his unique style of violin playing, accompanied by loop and effect pedals, whistling and voice. Bird will headline at the Rooftop at Pier 17 this Friday.
