You can ring their bell: Elizabeth St. Garden marks winter solstice

Brightening up the December evening darkness, the Elizabeth St. Garden held a winter solstice celebration last Saturday. Actually, it was more of an ushering out of the winter solstice, with an eye toward warmer and brighter days.

Make Music NY stopped by the sculpture-festooned garden, between Spring and Prince Sts., with their Bell by Bell parade. Flags were raised and lowered indicating when bells in which keys were to be rung, creating an interactive soundscape. People were invited to BYOB (Bring Your Own Bell) and join the ethereal jam.

There were free warm drinks for everyone.
