Woman punched in face in Village in random attack

Police are looking for a man who allegedly randomly punched a woman in the Village earlier this month.

According to cops, on Thurs., Jan. 7, around 6:15 p.m. a 28-year-old woman was walking along the street at Sixth Ave. and Waverly Place when she was approached by a stranger who suddenly struck her in the face. No words were exchanged prior to the incident.

The attacker then fled on foot eastbound on Waverly Place.

The victim suffered a small cut to her face. E.M.S. responded and transported her to New York University Langone Hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspect is described as 20 to 30 years old. Police released surveillance photos taken in a subway station near the incident location, from before the incident.
