Westbeth Artist Housing, at West and Bethune Streets, is a 383-unit affordable housing complex for artists. Covering an entire city block, the 124-year-old complex was the original home of Bell Labs. Redesigned by Richard Meier in the late 1960s, the now-landmarked site is one of the first examples of adaptive reuse of industrial buildings for artistic and residential use in the United States. It’s the country’s largest live-work community for artists.
