A 26-year-old man was walking to a Lower East Side bus stop around 1:40 in the morning on Sat., March 21, when he encountered several strangers, police said.
The man and the others got into a dispute, at which point, the group proceeded to gang up on the outnumbered victim and punch, kick and stab him in the abdomen and lower back.
Three of the attackers sprinted off in an unknown direction. Another paused to pick up something from the ground near the wounded, hunched-over victim, then gave him a parting kick in the face before casually sauntering off.
The victim was removed to Bellevue Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
