A prolific retail burglar recently went on a spree in Greenwich Village, according to police.
Cops said that over the course of a little more than a week, the suspect hit eight businesses, ranging from a phone store and four restaurants to a pet-supply place and a podiatrist’s office.
In the first incident, according to police, on Mon., Sept. 13, around 11 p.m., the guy gained entry to a Verizon store at 462 Sixth Ave., at 11th St., after forcing open the front door. Once inside, he removed six iPhone 12s with a total value of $6,280 and one iPad Pro valued at $1,000.
On Thurs., Sept. 16, sometime between 1 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., the same burglar then reportedly forced open a side door to break into Dos Caminos restaurant, at 675 Hudson St., at 14th Street. He stole the place’s cash register valued at $200.
At 1:40 a.m. that same day, the prolific perp tiptoed into TD Podiatry, at 26 W. 14 St., after picking a lock. Once inside, he removed two Dell computers valued at $2,000 and $100.
After taking a few days off, the burglar was back at it again. Police said that between 10 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 20, and 2 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 21, the suspect forced his way into High Street on Hudson restaurant, at 637 Hudson St., at Horatio Street, near the Meatpacking District, swiping $500 out of the register drawer.
He was just getting started, though, with four more burglaries to come on Tues., Sept. 21. At 12:30 a.m. he got into Roey’s restaurant, at 1 Perry St., on Greenwich Avenue, via the side door. He swiped an iPhone and an iPad valued at $45 each before fleeing.
At 1:22 a.m., he entered Cafe Cluny, at 284 W. 12th St., at W. Fourth Street, through the side basement door. There he stole an iMac computer valued at $2,000.
Five minutes before 3 a.m. he was in the Meatpacking District, where he entered Kobrick Coffee, at 22 Ninth Ave., at 13th Street, by means of the basement door. Going behind the counter, he took $500.
Around 3:45 a.m., also on Tues., Sept. 21, the burglar got into Wooftown, a pet-supply shop at 91 Christopher St., near Bleecker Street, stealing $891.
Police released a photo and video of the alleged suspect that they said was from the Cafe Cluny burglary on W. 12th Street. The suspect wore eyeglasses, a blue hooded sweatshirt with a large white “NYC” on the chest, a black face mask and what looked like a black Band-Aid on his forehead.
