Shot fired on Bleecker St. as victim fights off gunman

BY THE VILLAGE SUN | A gunshot was fired in a struggle during an attempted armed robbery on Bleecker Street, police said.

According to cops, on Sun., July 24, around 11:38 p.m., in front of 177 Bleecker St., between Sullivan and MacDougal Streets, an unidentified man approached another man, age 41, brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s property.

The victim struggled with the robber, attempting to wrest away the weapon. The victim’s family members also jumped into the fray to try to subdue the mugger. During the struggle, the gunman blasted a single shot. There were no reported injuries. The guy then jumped into a white BMW sedan with an unknown plate and fled.

Police released a surveillance video of the alleged suspect crossing the street while clutching at something in his waistband.
