The Elizabeth Street Garden is doggedly fighting a “ruff” battle in court to fend off a city-sponsored housing development project that would destroy it.
Meanwhile, the beloved garden — on Elizabeth Street, between Spring and Prince Streets — continues to offer popular programming for the community.
The Halloween Pet Parade will be back on Sun., Oct. 29, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will once again be V.I.P. panelists — last year, Councilmember Christopher Marte was among them — who will “rigorously judge” the runway contestants. There will also be “amazing raffle prizes” from local businesses and restaurants.
Capacity is limited, so RSVP to participate as soon as possible. Participant tickets are $20 until Oct 27. Register at elizabethstreetgarden.com/rsvp.
In addition, the garden is putting on a free Monster Mini Movie Series running from Tues., Oct. 24, to Thurs., Oct. 26, featuring one movie per night, in order: “Beetlejuice,” the 1948 “Cat People” and the original “Ghostbusters.” Shows start at 7 p.m.
