Metro Gala ‘reboots’ after that, umm, other gala Uptown

Move over Rihanna, Kardashians, Gisele, Bad Bunny and David Byrne (who showed up on the red carpet with an old-school bicycle). The Met Gala was a scene, to be sure, but not to be outdone by…the annual Metro Gala.

The Metro Gala — the “alternative Met Gala,” as some like to call it — was held May 8, as usual the Monday after the actual Met Gala, at the Union Square subway stop. (Hence the name “Metro.”)

Think East Village, Coney Island Mermaid Parade, Halloween and alternative looks — basically the Peoples’ Met Gala alternative.

This year’s event was dubbed: “Looting and Plunder — a line of Booty.” And, oh yeah, there was an ample amount of the latter proudly on display.
