They make such a perfect couplet.
The Elizabeth Street Garden and McNally Jackson bookstore are teaming up on a new poetry-reading series in the Little Italy green oasis, on Elizabeth St. between Spring and Prince Sts.
The readings will be held every other week, on Sundays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The series started June 20 and runs through Sept. 26. Each week’s readings will have a different theme. The garden and bookstore are co-promoting and co-curating the events, which are open submission.
Poets at the June 20 reading included Marcia Newfield, Lametrius White, Bruce Whitacre, Nicole Della Costa, Jeph Cange and Francine the Poet.
Poets can apply at email@example.com. Poets can find the weekly poetry themes at elizabethstreetgarden.com/calendar. The June 20 theme was preservation. The July 4 theme has not been posted yet.
