In hate crime, man spits in Asian woman’s face as she parks Citi Bike in East Village, cops say

BY THE VILLAGE SUN | In yet another anti-Asian incident, police said a man recently targeted a woman as she was parking a bike outside Tompkins Square Park.

According to cops, on July 20, around 4:35 p.m., a 52-year-old Asian woman was docking a Citi Bike on E. 10th St. near Avenue A. As she was doing so, a stranger approached her, made an anti-Asian statement and spit in her face before fleeing.

A police spokesperson said she did not have details on exactly what word or words the man actually allegedly uttered.

Cops are asking for the public’s help in identifying the perp, who is wanted on a charge of aggravated harassment as a hate crime.

Police released a photo of the suspect that looks like it might have been snapped by the victim.
