The National Arts Club will hold its third annual Community Day — a free event that invites the public to explore the world of art and enjoy a day filled with live music, family activities and more — on Sat., Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors are invited to explore the National Arts Club’s galleries, at 15 Gramercy Park South, featuring the current exhibition, “In a New Light: American Impressionism 1870–1940 | Works from the Bank of America Collection.” The landmark exhibition showcases masterpieces of American Impressionist art and includes works from 13 artists who were themselves Artist Life Members of the NAC.
In addition to the galleries, Community Day offers Arts and Crafts Kids Corner, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring hands-on arts and crafts activities. Families and kids of all ages are invited to create their own one-of-a-kind painting smocks and photo frames to decorate and take home. There will be a “floating Polaroid station” to capture a cute keepsake.
Also, there will be another installment of Music on the Stoop, from noon to 1 p.m., a live performance outside the landmarked NAC building, featuring multi-instrumentalist Dennis Lichtman and his band. In case of rain, alternative plans will be made. Note: The club is not providing seating for the outdoor performance.
