BY THE VILLAGE SUN | A prolific commercial burglar is doing plenty of “takeout” from West Village eateries, according to police, who have identified it as a crime pattern.
The break-in artist started off with Italian, first hitting Dante West Village, at 551 Hudson St., on Thurs., March 10. Just before 4 a.m., he allegedly entered the place’s basement through unlocked cellar doors. Once inside, he swiped an electric scooter, then fled to parts unknown.
Two hours later on the same block, he went for fast food, as just after 6 a.m. he got into the basement under Made in New York Pizza, at 561 Hudson St. He again gained access through the cellar doors, though this time had to break the lock using burglar’s tools. From the basement, he stole a computer tablet, an electronic device charger, a duffle bag containing various items and “consumable goods.”
Early the next morning the bistro basement burglar struck again, this time at Family Meal, Blue Hill restaurant’s “menu-less, casual pop-in,” at 75 Washington Place. The crook popped in around 1 a.m., again through the cellar doors after breaking the lock. His haul this time — a single watch.
Perhaps for laughs, he also burglarized The Comedy Shop, formerly The Latern Comedy Club, at 167 Bleecker St. on Wed., March 30, according to cops. Around 1:45 a.m., he entered the spot though a back door. Once inside he grabbed multiple electronic items, “consumable items,” tools and roughly $1,500.
The suspect sported a black moustache and angular eyebrows.
