Bike-path bandits rob jogger, 25, at gunpoint north of East River Park

BY THE VILLAGE SUN | A young jogger on the East Side bike path was waylaid by a group of armed muggers at a well-known pinchpoint just north of East River Park, police said.

Cops said that on Sun., June 19, at 11:20 p.m., a 25-year-old man was jogging on the bike path at E. 15th Street and the F.D.R. Drive — by the north end of the Con Ed pier, where the path narrows — when he was approached by around six individuals.

One of the group reportedly took out a gun and held it to the victim’s abdomen while demanding his property. The bike-path bandits then began to punch the victim and were able to remove his cell phone and headphones. They fled on foot.

The jogger sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack and did not require medical attention on scene.

The suspects are described as males between the ages of 13 and 25.
